It’s hard not to admire the sleekness of flat-panel displays. They are a perfect example of form melding with function to create a superior product.
Is it time for you to trade in your trusty cathode-ray tube (CRT) monitor for a stylish new liquid crystal display (LCD) model?

I suspect that the FTP support built into IE is one of its least-used features, but it is available to you when you need it. All you have to do is tell IE that you want to use FTP when you connect to a particular Internet address. You do that by using “ftp:” in the address bar instead of “http:”

DabbleDB looks very interesting. It is still in private beta testing. Seems like something that fits in with my interests: spreadsheets, databases, web apps, sharing. Here is a blurb from the dabbledb about page:

Dabble combines the best of group spreadsheets, custom databases, and intranet web applications into a new way to manage and share your information online. You can use Dabble to:

* Model your business

Choose your own categories of data. Add as many fields as you need. Link to other data. Extend or change the model at any time.

* Share your data

Access your database from anywhere over the web. Invite your colleagues to browse or edit it. Export to your spreadsheet or to PDF. Keep tabs on changes through your newsreader or your calendar.

* Explore your data

Search through your data instantly. Navigate via links and backlinks. Interactively group, sort, and filter the results. Then save that view and share it with others.

* Get smart results

Start off entering text. Then give Dabble some hints: with native support for dates and times, URLs and email addresses, street addresses, currency, and other data types, Dabble can give you calendar views, subtotals, and more at no extra cost. -

I would hope that Google would backup my Google account. But…

With all the recent talk of Gmail accounts being deleted, this is a very helpful guide that you can use to easily backup your Gmail.
To use your Gmail e-mail account in Outlook, you must first make sure POP3 support is enabled in Gmail, and then you can add it to Outlook.

I will be trying out an alternative to Flickr called Zoomr.

Zoomr

Started on a late October, 26th in 2005, Zooomr was born to explore the information inside of photos. It aims to be not merely another photo sharing service, but something that helps connect people together through photos.Perhaps one of the most important features of Zooomr is that it’s localized. With over 15 locales worldwide and growing Zooomr aims to connect the entire world together in the most seamless manner imaginable.

Bear with snow caked on his paw.

The photo was taken in September 2004 at Golden Gate Canyon State Park in Colorado. The 12,000 acre park is 30 miles away from Denver, Colorado. Stuff you can do: hiking, picnicking, biking, horseback riding, 155 campsites among dense forest, rocky peaks and aspen-filled meadows. There is a great view from the famous Panorama Point of over 100 miles of the Continental Divide.

The day before this picture was taken it was sunny, clear, and in the 70’s.

What’s a Wiki?

A wiki is a group-editable website. Wikis are composed of web pages you can write on, enabling fast and easy collaboration.

The word “wiki” comes from a Hawaiian word for “quick”. Wikis were invented about 10 years ago by Socialtext advisor and friend Ward Cunningham. Wikis became the collaboration tool of choice because they are simple and flexible.

Most wikis today still require technical skill to install and use, while others are full of confusing features.

9 Top Secrets of Naturally Born Organizers

No doubt about it, some people have a gift for organization. Me? I was behind the door when that gift was handed out. Be that as it may, even the organization-challenged can learn new habits and organizational skills for a greater degree of order and efficiency. While home organization comes to mind, organizational skills for college students are also a necessity. What are nine organizational skills?

One very popular system for improving organization in the home is that of “Messies Anonymous,” founded by Sandra Felton. Felton was once a disorganized “Messie.” She rated her friends on a scale of 1 to 10 according to how neat their homes were, then grilled the 9’s to find their tips. (She found that the 10’s were so extreme they had traded off some of the joy of living for the sake of a clean home!)

Marla Cilley, author of Sink Reflections has helped many homemakers overcome disorganized habits, too. She refers to people as either “BO’s” (born organized), or “SHE’s” (sidetracked home executives.) SHE’s exhibit some of the characteristics of people who have been diagnosed with adult ADHD. These people feel on the go constantly and avoid routine tasks. They have a hard time finishing projects, too. Even a person with ADHD can learn the techniques of the naturally organized, and become more organized themselves.
